Look what I made! Isn't it cute - its a Tennis Chick - I'm trying to create a really cute embroidery design for our team - its entirely possible that I am spending too much time on the little things! ha ha ha

I'm always looking for new tennis designs other than the 'old standbys' so feel free to make suggestions - I think my daughter will totally dig this design, might be too cute - let me know what you think!

I've never had so much fun losing!

So, we did it! we played our first matches, and I think we were great! We all won some games (ok, I only won one) but I think we all had some fun and got rid of the jitters! Thank you to everyone - we even got a great picture - next time, lets take the picture before we play!!!

Can't get enough tennis

Hi all you tennis chicks. I have to agree with Leanne about wanting to get a number of "chicks" together to play some tennis. I've been playing at Fort Myers Racquet Club for a number of years, players have come and gone, but I am still hanging in there trying to improve my tennis game, be a good competitor, and enjoy tennis as a life sport. SUCCESS

What is success - well, I've have a glass (or two) of wine and I have been sitting here planning our 'team' and I feel like, win or lose, we are already successful just in putting together a team! Okay, maybe my goals aren't lofty enough, but for a long time I have been wanting to put together a network of people who want to play tennis. I realize not everyone is willing or able to commit to league play, but I am so impressed with the girls who are! Its takes guts to sign up for something like this and you just can't take yourself too seriously!

I really want to use this blog as an opportunity for people to set up matches or practice outside of, or in addition to our league play. I hear so many girls talk about wanting to get into a league, but not feeling quite ready. K-Swiss is a great place to start, but its singles. And sometimes people just want to find other people to play with.

So, I am really looking forward to playing with all of you! I like every one's enthusiasm and sense of humor - and I think we're going to do great!!!

p.s. Jennifer -I found Hudson's flip flops in my kitchen after you left - I'll bring them tomorrow night! Blake had so much fun playing with him and before he went to bed he said "when is my new friend coming to come back to my house?"

Black & White

Does everyone have something black and/or white that they could wear Thursday night? We can add in some color as we get it together! ha ha ha - let me know what you think!

Hey Chicks!

We’ll plan on meeting tomorrow night, just for a few minutes, I guess I’ll have everyone come here to my house, which is 13885 Bald Cypress Circle, I live in Reflection Lakes – you go to the second gate on your left (Las Palmas) and find my name in the call box (Luehrman) – I’ll let you through the gate and then you just follow the street around until you get to my house – I have a half circle driveway with a Toyota Sequoia parked outside. Hope to see you around 7-ish?

If you can't make it, don't worry, but please let me know if you are more interested in playing singles or doubles! Also, try to recruit some more people so we have subs for the days people have to miss - we already have a problem with 2 people having to miss this Thursday - can't complain though, its a birthday party! Happy Birthday Holly!!!

Mini Clinic?

Is anyone interested in having a short practice or mini clinic tomorrow night at 7 - just for 45 minutes or so, i could get Patrick or Seibo to come out and give us some last minute tips/encouragement!!! Let me know what you think!

Singles? Doubles?

So, let me know what you are interested in playing - we can't all play doubles though - you big bunch of babies! We will have to come up with some kind of rotation if that happens - something like, "who are we going to throw to the lions tonight?"

Personally, i like to play both, but i am also realistic and looking at some of the other teams rosters, there are people on those teams who are very strong singles players - of course I'll take one for the team, so no pressure, but if you think you'd like to try some singles, and you've got some skills, then step on up to the plate!!!

Meeting? Outfits?

So, do people want to pop over here to my house Wednesday evening to meet each other and discuss some strategy - figure out who wants to play singles, doubles? Tina suggested around 7 pm - just a quick meeting - I think it would be nice if we could at least recognize each other at the match! ha ha ha

Also, Tracy brings up an important point - do we want to try to 'coordinate' our tennis outfits from existing items we already own - maybe we can eventually try to get 'team' outfits, but lets just get started first - there are some tough players on the other teams, but we're tough too! Give it some thought and let me (and everyone else) know!

ALSO, Tyler will be holding a clinic for players Monday evenings from 6:30 - 8:00 at Fort Myers Racquet Club. This is a great opportunity to work on some things. Hope to see you there!
